Unicorns Release
As the song says, "So now it's done..." and "Unicorns" is ready.
Recorded in three great days at Matt Clifford's place over at Hope Bagot on the
side of the Clee Hill (11 June till 13 June). Matt recently did Mick Jagger's
solo album and he has this very old, rambling, beautiful house dotted with antiquaries
and recording gear. Rabbits play on the lawn outside the room where you record
and if any sound intrudes it will a bird desperate to be on a track ~ Have a
listen - there's at least one there!
As hoped, Mick Dolan was in charge, doing his usual brilliant job in his usual amiable and efficient way, which of course results in good performances as well as enjoyable days. Mick worked with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Mike D'Abo, Mick Jagger, Show of hands etc etc and his mixing and mastering is little short of magic.
Initially, 24 tracks were planned with space for 4 others to be chosen from the Subscriber's votes. However - the vote was so large and things went so well that in all - 36 tracks were recorded! - not bad for 3 days- Is that a record? - well ...yes!
The artwork for the cover is finished - a beautiful and new (well sort of new ~ you'll understand when you see it) unicorn image by Bill's wife talented artist Katherine Soutar.
